Wk8 - Production Designer - Infographic and Tiktok

Updated: Mar 30, 2023

Hi! This week I'm the production designer for our infographic and Tiktok. We’d discussed how we wanted our infographic to be interactive and decided it would take the shape of a game.

Sunday 5th march

To start the week I decided to browse Canva and find a suitable template for our infographic. I’ve used Canva for projects before and think it’s a great website to create our infographic with. Finding a template early on means that, with input from the researcher and communications director, it’ll be easy to gradually build up the infographic as the week commences. This also allows us to come together as a team and decide whether this template suits the direction we want to go as we have time to implement any changes if needed (Peter and Dawson, 2010).

Monday 7th March

I continued building up the infographic, choosing a colour scheme and graphics that match our overall campaign house style. I decided to go with dark navy blue, contrasted by a lighter turquoise blue which matches our profile picture and also connotes our aim of ‘shedding light on dark patterns’. I also used the same maze graphic as in our profile picture to make it cohesive.

Thursday 9th March

I added my final edits to the infographic to include the information provided by the researcher. After this I shared the infographic via our OneDrive and also posted and archived it on instagram so people could see how it would look on the platform. I made sure to continue to communicate with my team and used our Whatsapp chat to let my team know I’d uploaded it and to ask for any feedback

Amongst this, as a team we also discussed our extra piece of content - the Tiktok. We wanted to capitalise on current Tiktok trends to draw in a wider audience and so we drafted a video ready to post on Friday.

Friday 10th March

We presented the infographic to our seminar tutor who suggested some helpful edits that we implemented in that seminar as a team.

Overall I think our infographic week went very well, we worked closely together as a team and only had minor edits to make before approval and posting. The content looks good on our Instagram page and is a good introduction to dark patterns.
