Wk 10 - Communications director - Twitter

Updated: Mar 30, 2023

Hi! It’s our final week of content creation for our campaign and this week I am communications director for our Twitter thread.

Wednesday 22nd March

I’m away this week at an event so it’s even more important that I communicate closely with my team. We have two communications directors for this week so I messaged her so we could decide how to best divide the workload. It’s really important that we closely communicate throughout the week so that we can work together to develop a draft thread. Because of this we decided to create a singular document that we could both edit, this would allow us to easily see each other's work and build off what the other has done. Our researcher had already provided loads of information we could use which was extremely helpful and showed good teamwork as everyone was meeting their deadlines which made the content creation flow smoothly.

Thursday 23rd March

Managing my time effectively whilst I was away was really important and it meant that when I got back tonight I didn’t have too much to catch up on. What really helped with this was utilising our Whatsapp chat and keeping our team posted with what I had accomplished/when I was away and when I was getting back.

Friday 24th March

We all met together in our seminar and went over the draft to make sure everyone was happy with it and make any edits that were thought to be needed. It was good to sit down as a group and discuss how we were concluding our campaign with this final piece of content. Likewise, we also made sure to discuss our plan for the Twitter conference on Wednesday - making sure at least two people were available in our time slot.

Next time I think I would try and draft the content on Twitter originally instead, so that it would be really clear how everything would look and meet the character limit. Despite this, our draft fulfilled its purpose and everyone understood its layout so this wasn’t a major limitation.

By the end of the seminar everyone was happy with our thread and we were prepared for Wednesday. I think I completed my role as communications director well this week, I got the draft done in good time despite managing external commitments and stayed in close contact with the other communications director.

As well as finalising the Twitter thread this week we all worked together to finalise our campaign and prepare it for assessment. This involved the creation of a Linktree and an Instagram post to highlight the Twitter conference.
